Term 2 Market: A Beautiful Day of Learning and Community
On Wednesday 1st July, our Australian Homeschool Hub community came together at Lurnea Community Hub for our Term 2 Market—and what an incredible day it was!
The Term 2 Market gives children the opportunity to create and run their own small businesses. In the lead-up to the event, the children worked hard to develop their ideas, plan their products and prepare for market day.
Along the way, they learned valuable real-world skills, including budgeting, planning, pricing, packaging, presentation, customer service, marketing and handling money. They also gained experience in problem-solving, communication, teamwork and building confidence.
On market day, Lurnea Community Hub was buzzing from beginning to end. The children proudly set up their stalls, welcomed customers, explained their products and experienced the excitement of making their own sales.
It was wonderful to see so much creativity across the market. Every stall reflected the children’s personalities, interests and hard work. From handmade creations and delicious treats to thoughtful gifts and unique business ideas, there was something special to discover at every table.
More importantly, the day was about so much more than selling products. It was about giving children a safe and supportive space to try something new, take risks, learn from experience and see their ideas come to life.
Watching the children grow in confidence throughout the day was incredibly rewarding. Some children began the morning feeling nervous, but by the end of the market, they were proudly speaking with customers, answering questions and celebrating their achievements.
The day was also a beautiful example of community coming together. Families, friends and visitors showed their support by shopping from the young business owners, encouraging their ideas and celebrating their success.
We are so proud of every child who participated. Their creativity, courage, determination and enthusiasm made the Term 2 Market a truly memorable event.
A heartfelt thank you to all the families, volunteers, supporters and community members who helped make the day possible. Your encouragement allows our children to flourish, build confidence and develop skills they can carry with them into the future.
We cannot wait to see what our young entrepreneurs create next!
